Yau Fic Chapter 3

It was early evening when Peach went home. Clarissa started cleaning up the bowels, pot, and chopsticks when she noticed a small book on the floor. She thumbs through it a bit, (Peach must have forgotten this). She stops on a random page and begins to read: "Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant,  is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth.  It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (Hmph... love... I wish a love existed like that) She closes the book and places it on her bed. (Ill take that back to Peach tomorrow). After finishing the dishes, Clarissa eyes the leftovers. (Should I....? He did take care of me, he didn't even charge me. Maybe I should take him some....) She takes out a small bento box and fills it with the Seafood Fried Rice, covers it and walks outside. It was a short walk to the Clinic, she pauses outside the sheet that hangs halfway down the doorway unsure if she really wants to enter. After a few moments she hears a grumpy voice on the other side, "Are you coming in or not?" Lee Yau grunts. Clarissa sighs, pushes back the sheet, and walks in. "Hmm why are you here? You seem to be walking just fine, dont waste my time." He says, looking up from his computer at her for a few seconds before staring at his computer screen again. "You-!!!" She sighs again, "Here. Take this." She sets the bento box on the desk and pushes it towards him. He raises an eyebrow, "What is this?" She fidgets a little bit, "What does it look like? It's food! Eat it!" Lee Wah smiles as he gets up and walks to his room, nodding at Clarissa as he passes by. Lee Yau stares down at the box Clarissa pushed towards him, "..." and picks it up slowly. A weird look flashes on his face for a moment, and he looks up at her momentarily before opening the box and smelling the contents. He picks up the chopsticks and shuffles through the rice carefully. ".....What are you doing?" Clarissa askes confusedly. He looks back up and carefully examines her face, "Im checking it for poison." Anger visibly appears on Clarissa's face instantly, and she reaches over the desk grabbing at the bento box. "Give it back if you are going to act like that!!!!" His long arm stretches up above his head, carrying the bento box out of her reach. "Youve already given it to me. It's mine." She growls at him, "hmph! Well dont get any funny ideas, this is just a thank you for taking care of me yesterday." Lowering the bento box he scoops up some rice with the chopsticks and takes a bite. His eyes open wide and he covers his mouth, a blush appearing on his face. "It-its good!" He grabs another bite and eats bite after bite until it is all gone. "Hmmm I didn't know you were good at cooking..." Lee Yau whispers under his breath. "What did you say?" Clarissa replies. "Ah nothing. It was good." He says as he hands back the bento box. Clarissa smiles brightly as she takes it from him and he stares for a moment in shock. "Good! Im glad you liked it!" A blush appears on his face again and he looks back at his computer screen, "If you dont mind I still have work to do."  Clarissa's eyebrows knit together and she leaves the Clinic without a word. Clarissa sighs as she walks home and kicks a pebble on the ground. (That weasel, he still acts like an butthead even when someone does something nice for him!) Lee Yau's blushing face pops into her mind and a blush forms on her own face. (Ahhh... but that... that was kinda cute though.......... Ahhhhhh!!!!! What am I thinking?! Ugh. I have to get my mind off of that stupid doctor.) She thought as she walked back onto her farm. She looks at the sorry state of the farm and takes out her copper axe. (Well I might as well clean up a bit, it might clear up my head) she thought as she starts to chop down some trees.

Shortly before midnight Clarissa starts running out of energy. Huffing she wipes the sweat from her brow and puts her axe back into her pack. She walks back to her house and plops on her bed, "Owww! What in the...?" A sharp edge jabs against her back, she pulls a book out from underneath her. (Oh that's right, Peach's book. I need to return that tomorrow.) She thumbs through the book again and reads a short paragraph: "There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.  We love because he first loved us." (Hmm no fear huh? Is that what love is supposed to be like?) Here in town Clarissa's options were limited in love, she had a choice between a playboy rockstar wannabe, a rich boy born with a silver spoon and only concerned with profit, a man obsessed with wine and Elly, or a goody-goody that was always doing something and never not doing anything. She never really got close to anyone, she didn't even really have any friends. (Ugh this is why I want to go to the city, there would be some many more options to choose from. A huge sea of Fish.) Slowly her eyes start to droop until she falls asleep, the book resting on her chest.
